We are pleased to announce that Forte and Nurture Project together support vulnerable smallholder farming households by signing a memorandum of understanding on providing crop insurance on 7 March 2024.

The ceremony, represented by Mr. Ny Lyhoung, Business Unit Head of Micro and Agriculture Insurance, Mr. Winfried Suess, Team Leader Nurture, and key management from both entities.

The Nurture Project, a joint initiative by HEKS/EPER (Swiss Church Aid) and Caritas Switzerland Cambodia, is designed to bolster the climate resilience of smallholder farmers through a comprehensive approach. The project’s overall goal is to ensure that vulnerable smallholder farming households are better equipped to withstand the impacts of climate change and to increase their incomes through the implementation of climate-resilient agroecological farming systems.

Forte has been at the forefront of agricultural insurance in Cambodia since 2014, pioneering Weather Index Crop Insurance (WICI). To date, we have covered approximately 60,000 farmers, firmly establishing ourselves as an inclusive business that positively impacts all levels of society. In addition to this accomplishment, we were awarded as Cambodia’s Best Inclusive Business Company in 2023 at the Sixth ASEAN Inclusive Business Summit.

The Nurture Project and Forte share a strong commitment to supporting farmers and empowering them to farm confidently. This memorandum of understanding (MOU) paves the way for ongoing collaboration between Forte and Nurture Project in creating custom crop insurance solutions for smallholder farmers in areas where HEKS/EREP is active.
